Each year during the giving season, AMVC employees take time to donate pork products to local organizations in their communities.
This year, AMVC team members in Frankfort, Indiana, donated 270 pounds of pork to Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition, which provides meals to in-need families with school-aged kids while they are home on Christmas break. Over 60 families and 165 kids through this program will receive pre-cooked sausage patties and pork tenderloins over the holidays.
“We are proud to partner with great organizations like Indiana Packers and Indiana Pork Farmers to make this donation possible and provide meals to local families,” said Todd Rodibaugh, AMVC business development manager and one of the employees who made the donation.
In Edmore, North Dakota, AMVC team members chose their local fire department to donate several hams as a thank-you for their service to the local community.
“We are very happy to give hams to the Edmore firefighters,” said the AMVC sow farm manager Johana Reyes. “Our local first responders play an important part in keeping our community safe. We appreciate their services and thought the holiday season would be a great time to recognize their efforts.”
AMVC team members give back all throughout the year but make a special point of donating pork during the giving season. The tradition of donating pork to local organizations during December began as part of the National Pork Producers Council’s “Give-A-Ham” challenge and the National Pork Board’s Hams Across America program.
“Pork donations are just one way our employees live out our motto of ‘Doing the right thing every day,” said Sophie Hansen, AMVC public relations specialist. “We are proud to be a part of many great communities and to be able to give back to them this holiday season.”
